This is a static website

Ockham's Razor is a pure static website. Every page is a plain HTML file served to your browser along with one stylesheet, one small JavaScript file and the site's own images and audio files. There is no content management system, no database, no user accounts, no comment system and no sign-in of any kind.

Because of that, the site does not:

• set or read cookies, or use local storage, session storage or any similar browser storage;
• run analytics of any kind, including page-view counting, heat maps or session recording;
• serve advertising, sponsored placements or advertising identifiers;
• use tracking pixels, web beacons or any other tracking technology;
• load third-party scripts, fonts, stylesheets, widgets, embeds, iframes or external images.

The only files requested by any page on this site come from ockhams-razor-band.com itself. There is no way to build a profile of your visit here, because no information about your visit is collected or stored by the site.

What has been removed from the original site

The original 2003 version of this website was built in the style of its time. It embedded a third-party visitor counter, which loaded a small image from another server on every page view, and it offered a guestbook hosted by an outside guestbook service.

Both of those third-party elements have been removed. The visitor counter no longer appears on any page, and the guestbook has been taken down, so no data is sent to those outside services from this site any more. No replacement counter, stat tracker, comment box or social plug-in has been added in their place. This is why you will not see a visitor number anywhere on these pages: there is no longer anything counting them.

Audio, images and other media

The sound clips, photographs, posters and artwork on this site are served directly from ockhams-razor-band.com. Nothing is streamed from, or embedded from, an external media host, and there is no third-party audio or video player on any page.

The audio previews use the browser's own built-in player. Selecting play requests a file from this site and nothing else, and no listening history is recorded. If your browser cannot play the file, a direct download link is provided next to each clip.

If you choose to e-mail the band

The only information this site ever receives from you is the information you send yourself, by e-mail, to MidnightMagicPro@aol.com. There is no contact form on this site, so nothing is transmitted from a page you are merely reading.

When you write to the band:

• your name and e-mail address are used only to read your message and reply to it;
• if you ask to join the e-mail list, the same name and e-mail address are used to send you e-mail list updates about performances, merchandise and special offers;
• your details are never sold, rented, traded or shared with third parties, and they are not used for anything other than the two purposes above;
• order details you send, such as a mailing address for a CD, are used only to fulfil that order.

Please remember that ordinary e-mail is not a secure medium. Do not send payment card numbers, passwords or other sensitive information by e-mail; the band accepts PayPal, money orders and personal cheques and does not need card details from you.

How to be removed from the e-mail list

You can leave the Ockham's Razor e-mail list at any time, for any reason and without giving an explanation. Send an e-mail to MidnightMagicPro@aol.com with a short request to be removed, using the same address you joined with where possible, and your name and address will be deleted from the list.

If you would rather not be contacted again at all, say so in the same message and the address will be noted so that no further mail is sent. Instructions for joining the list in the first place are on the e-list page.

Links to other websites

Some pages on this site link to other websites, for example to a record label, a venue or a page of related music. Those links are provided for information and convenience.

Once you follow a link and leave ockhams-razor-band.com, this policy no longer applies. The website you arrive at is governed by its own privacy policy and its own practices, including any cookies or analytics it may use, and those are outside the band's control. If you want to know what another site does with your information, read its privacy policy.

Changes to this policy and last updated date

This policy is written for this website as it exists today. If anything described here changes — for example, if a feature that collects information is ever added — this page will be updated before that feature goes live.
